Rwanda

analog black and white photographs, 2011 / 2012

Street photography in Rwanda was very different to any other place I've been to. The genocide of 1994 had affected many social and cultural aspects of the country and most rwandese weren't used to see a foreigner like me taking photos. Walking down the streets was attracting everyones attention, which made it trickier to capture candid moments, but on the other hand led to more interactions with people.
